Description of the trip:
Our exclusive tour begins at the Fisherman's Boy – a sculpture that symbolizes Ålesund's close connection to the sea and fishing. Here we talk about the city's origins, the clipfish trade and its unique geographical location between fjord, sea and mountains.
As we walk along the waterfront, it becomes clear that Norway is not only about nature, but also about technology. We are talking about car ferries that have been the lifeblood of coastal towns for decades, tunnels that go deep under the sea, and elegant bridges that connect islands and fjords. These infrastructure projects are among the most ambitious in Europe and tell the story of a country that has mastered the art of engineering to meet the challenges of the landscape.
Then we turn our attention to Ålesund's architectural jewel: the Art Nouveau style. After the great city fire of 1904, one of Europe's most beautiful cityscapes was created here - with ornate facades, towers and symbolic details that tell of optimism and new beginnings. History becomes visible in Kongens gate.
This tour is ideal for anyone interested in the city, society and the Nordic lifestyle. We talk about hydropower as a green energy source, the role of oil and gas in the Norwegian prosperity model and the balance between tradition and progress.
Finally, we enjoy the view from the museum park – or I'll be happy to show you the way to the best restaurants in town.
